Overview and business description

The company’s core business is the development and provision of high-precision 3D map data, or HD maps, for autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). It is also expanding the use of its data across a wide range of fields, including infrastructure, disaster prevention, logistics, and entertainment.

The company originated from Dynamic Map Platform Planning Co., Ltd., which was established to develop high-precision 3D map data, or HD maps, for the realization of automated driving systems under the Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP) led by the Cabinet Office. In June 2016, seven companies with expertise in mapping, measurement, and high-precision positioning jointly established the company as a research organization. Following the progress of this research and growing needs for autonomous driving applications, the company received investments from INCJ and ten Japanese automakers, and transitioned into an operating company as Dynamic Map Platform Co., Ltd. in June 2017.

We collect data using vehicles equipped with specialized equipment, including mobile mapping systems (MMS), and also use outsourcing where necessary. Going forward, we are working to improve efficiency by utilizing data from ordinary vehicles, or probe data, as well as drones.

Yes. Their use is expanding across a wide range of fields, including construction, urban development, logistics, disaster prevention, gaming, and video production.

Technology and growth strategy

Our strengths are high accuracy, broad coverage of approximately 1.8 million kilometers globally, a track record of installation in mass-produced vehicles, and a continuous update system.

We do not believe so. High-precision maps help ensure safety through redundancy and reduce the processing load on AI. Demand is also expanding for AI development applications.

Our growth strategy is centered on expanding the automotive license business, developing opportunities in AI, semiconductors, and digital twins, broadening applications in infrastructure, entertainment, and other fields, and expanding into overseas markets.

Financial results

Our fiscal year ends on March 31 each year, and we announce full-year financial results in May. Please refer to the IR calendar for quarterly earnings announcement dates.

Please refer to the earnings reports and annual securities reports posted on our website.

Our revenue structure consists of two main pillars: project-based revenue from initial map development and license-based revenue from mass production and recurring use. We are currently working to expand the more profitable license-based business.

We do not disclose the timing of profitability, but we are working to improve earnings by expanding license revenue.

Project-based revenue tends to be concentrated in the fourth quarter. License-based revenue is linked to vehicle sales.

We currently have some dependence on certain customers, but we are working to diversify our customer base.
