Dynamic Map Platform Axyz Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Hiromichi Amagai; “Axyz”) has started providing a snow removal support system (SRSS) service using the HD Maps developed by Dynamic Map Platform Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO & President: Shuichi Yoshimura; “Dynamic Map Platform”).
Axyz’s SRSS combines Dynamic Map Platform’s HD Maps, which have an excellent track record in the field of autonomous driving, and RTK positioning, technology that makes it possible to estimate your current position with a high degree of precision; its aim is to solve the social issue of snow removal in areas of heavy snowfall through the digitalization of operational knowhow. The company has carried out field tests of the SRSS, and started offering this service to Takafukugumi Co., Ltd. (Iwate Prefecture) from this fiscal year; it is also continuing to engage in tests of the SRSS’ effectiveness, which have been ongoing since FY2022 in Showa Village, Fukushima Prefecture.
Since FY2022, Axyz has confirmed the effectiveness of the SRSS on narrow residential streets and farm roads in Showa Village, Fukushima Prefecture; in FY2023, it is continuing to confirm the effectiveness of the SRSS in snow removal operations by using it throughout the season, following improvements that reflect the opinions of the local snow removal operators.
Axyz will provide services for Takafukugumi Co., Ltd., which carries out snow removal operations at the beginning of spring on the roads that are closed in the winter, where snow removal is very difficult. The work takes place in Hachimantai City, Iwate Prefecture, on Prefectural Road No. 23 Obuke-Hachimantai (known as the Hachimantai Aspite Line). Takafukugumi will engage in snow removal operations using the SRSS with rotary snowplows and backhoes, with the aims of increasing the safety of snow removal operations and improving efficiency.
Axyz will contribute to solving issues in snow removal operations in regions of heavy snowfall by broadening its provision of the SRSS service, contributing to the prevention of traffic accidents leading to property damage and work accidents during snow removal operations and to the protection of roadside structures and other properties managed by local governments, and by supporting the realization of sustainable snow removal operations.
