Since 2020, Dynamic Map Platform Co., Ltd (“DMP”) has been working with Woven Alpha to jointly conduct a proof-of-concept for efficient update of our High-Precision 3D map data (“HD maps”).
Last year, we used Woven Alpha's open software platform, Automated Mapping Platform (“AMP”) and standard in-vehicle camera data to detect changes in the road and updated the HD maps based on the detected information. Based on the results of the proof-of-concept, this year, we will expand our collaboration to usage of anonymized probe data (“PD”) collected from cameras installed on private owned vehicles.
The proof-of-concept will start with domestic expressways, aiming to realize a map updating system that is efficient, accurate, and cost effective. As more and more advanced driving support systems with our HD maps installed are introduced in Japan and overseas, the frequency of updating will be greatly improved. In addition, we aim to expand the same update system from highways to city roads and even to North America. Together with Woven Alpha, we will contribute to promoting safe advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving systems.
