By utilizing various information, such as expressway lane information with High-Precision 3D Map data (HD maps) boasting reliable centimeter-class accuracy, we contributed to achieving Level 3 autonomous driving*1 on expressways and freeways across Japan. Data maintenance is currently ongoing as we continue to support reliability and safety through our efforts to keep data up to date.
*1.According to the definition of autonomous driving established by the Japanese government, based on standards by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Under certain conditions, the system can take over vehicle operation while the driver monitors surrounding traffic. When the system’s requirements are no longer met, an alarm sounds and the driver must immediately retake control of the vehicle.
*Dynamic Map Platform’s High-Precision 3D Map data (HD maps) are provided to Honda Motor Co., Ltd. in a format with information added through Zenrin Co., Ltd.
